Sean Power & The Main Street Band
Formed in Brisbane in 2023, Sean Power & The Main Street Band have quickly built a reputation for delivering raw, honest performances that blend classic rock, country, and blues. Their “Cowboy Grunge” sound echoes the likes of Neil Young, The Rolling Stones, and Tom Petty, with shades of The Black Keys and Jack White — haunting melodies and harmonies driven by gritty guitars and powerful energy.
Their debut album Black Letter Day was named one of SPIN Magazine editor Matthew Thomson’s favourite albums of 2025:
“Melodic when necessary, and piercingly guitared at other times. A strong debut from this new cast of old hands.”
Smoke Lanterns
Smoke Lanterns are Brisbane’s most compelling alt-country outlaws — a band trading in dusty roads, deep feelings, and psychedelic horizons. Fronted by vocalists Skritch and Pete O’Brian, alongside Kasper Skou, Chris McKillinit, and guitarist Paul Watson, these Meanjin scene veterans bring hard-won authenticity to every note.
Their sound is cinematic and intimate all at once: layered guitars, eddying atmospheres, and melodies that linger long after the final chord fades. Melancholic without being maudlin, expansive without losing focus, Smoke Lanterns make music for late-night drives, solitary reflection, and every ache in between.
The Dons
The Dons deliver rock ’n’ roll in the spirit of The Rolling Stones with a touch of classic ’80s Aussie pub rock. Formed around the O’Donoghue brothers and cousins, the band features members of Pleasure for the 6th Sense, Webster, The Cat, The Tree and The Big Blue Sky, Lola Blame, and The Morris 1100.
The Morris 1100
The Morris 1100 bring new directions to old sounds — combining ’60s-inspired beats with a modern twist. Expect low-tide surf guitars, keyboard freakouts, wry lyrics, and flashes of French pop art illuminating dusky Antipodean highways.
