Gusto Gusto 'tyrannosauroborus' Album launch with Greska
Melbourne’s Gusto Gusto bring their second album Tyrannosauroborus to Brisbane with a instrumental dance party at Mirrorball Ministries.
The last two years have seen Gusto Gusto storming stages including Glastonbury Festival (UK), Dark Mofo (TAS) and Port Fairy Folk Festival (VIC) and playing shows with Skerryvore (SCO), Snarky Puppy (US) and Sex On Toast.
Amidst a whirlwind year with over 50 shows they found time to record a 13 track genre crossing album, a raucous instrumental blend of accordion, trumpet, clarinet and rocking rhythm section that traverses the worlds of funk, afrobeat, djent and celtic music.
Tyrannosauroborus is led by singles Sunday Scaries, Split Second, Astro 9 and Down Below.
Supported by Brisbane’s own Greshka, a six piece neo-gypsy/klezmer ensemble not unlike a chipotle and cocaine kebab: you’re not sure where it’s from, but it sure knocks you off your tits. A torn canvas of Romanian gypsy dons a filthy smear of electronica, metal, jazz-funk and classical-arrangement.

it’s been a while since Laneous played Brisbane, and now he’s coming back the best way he knows how — with a loop pedal, Peter G’s coke white SG, and songs that matter. Soulful originals and carefully chosen covers from an artist who puts it all on the table.

Catharsis Now
Come along to Mirrorball Ministries , bring your instrument and join us in a new monthly series dedicated to improvised music and collective release. Each month, the Brisbane Conduction Orchestra is joined by two other acts - one of which becomes the Catharsis Now! Band (formed live on the night) where local musicians put their names into a hat, and four performers are drawn at random to create a one-off ensemble for the performance. No rehearsals, no discussion - just presence, listening, and (hopefully) some catharsis. Hayley Chan is a performer, improviser, and composer based in Warrane/Sydney. Praised for her ability to “evoke atmosphere through subtlety and nuance” (Jessica Nichols, Sydney Morning Herald), her work transcends traditional genre boundaries, drawing inspiration from leading Australian artists such as Maria Moles, Dylan van der Schyff, and Andrea Keller. With a background in jazz, hip-hop, improvised, experimental, and industrial music, Hayley brings a distinctive post-genre sound to her performances.

Spinning Out: A Fresh Take on Drum and Bass
Spinning Out is a drum and bass event focused on supporting local DJs, especially those who have not yet had the chance to play in front of a live audience. It is built around creating an affordable, community-driven alternative to typical club nights, with the focus kept firmly on the music.
The night is carefully curated to move through different styles, starting with deeper, more soulful sounds and gradually building into faster, heavier energy. With shorter sets, more DJs are given the opportunity to play, bringing a wider mix of styles and keeping the night moving.
Spinning Out is about giving people a space to discover a new appreciation for the genre they already love, whether it’s a track they’ve never heard before or the mixing style of a new DJ.
If you are into drum and bass and want something more down to earth, come support local and be a part of it.

The bar bazaar - amaidi, blue stockings
The BAr BAzAAr launches with a very special night of contemporary folk music, featuring a farewell Brisbane performance by Amaidí before they head off on their first European tour this August.
Amaidí will be taking their high-energy neo-trad sound to some of the world's great folk stages, including the Cambridge Folk Festival (UK), Festival Interceltique de Lorient (France), and a series of performances across Ireland. This is your chance to catch them before they depart.
Brisbane's Amaidí is a high-energy neo-trad powerhouse featuring banjo, fiddle, guitar and accordion, creating a massive, modern sound that fills every corner of the room.
Their sets are pure fire — explosive dance tunes paired with beautifully crafted songs, blending Irish, Scottish and Australian roots into a powerful live experience.
Every time they hit the stage, they bring the energy. Every time.
Supporting Amaidí are Blue Stockings, an art-folk duo from Meanjin/Brisbane featuring guitarist Chloe Hasson and vocalist Alison Paris. Drawing inspiration from psychedelic 70s folk, traditional ballads and modern indie-folk, their music combines intricate guitar work with poignant lyrics and rich storytelling. With a DIY spirit and a healthy sense of humour, Blue Stockings create performances that are thoughtful, engaging and refreshingly original.
